What I See I Am
THOU PREPAREST A TABLE BEFORE ME
IN THE PRESENCE OF MINE ENEMIES
This is an act by God which shows God's constant protection of us. Eating at a table is a moment of personal, family and friends enjoyment and bonding. Eating is a time of bonding. To eat in the presence of "mine enemies" is to show there is no fear of them. God does this for us. But if we doubt God's presence then we lay our self vulnerable from external forces (our enemies).
We are spiritual and mental beings, who manifest physically. This phrase of the Psalm also shows how much we trust in God. If we internalize the external (allow the physical world to guide the mental world), we then trust the physical (our five senses) more than God.
THOU ANNOITEST MY HEAD WITH OIL
Annoiting is a special procedure for the most loved. When annointed with oil it is a cleansing procedure which cleanses the head, mentally and spiritually the mind of fears and enemies. God does this for you, because God knows you are special. You are annoited by God. There is no greater power or judgement than that. Do not think less of yourself than God does.
MY CUP RUNNETH OVER
This phrase shows God's gift of abundance for us. A very special commodity at the time this Psalm was written was water and wine. Which could only be consumed from a cup. If the cup overflowed it meant great abundance.
We have a tendency to think that some one physical is in charge of our abundance, boss, banker, government, etc. Keep in mind this is a mental and spiritual world, the physical is created by the spiritual and mental. We are in charge of how much of God's abundance we accept.
If you think abundance we will have abundance because it is available from God. If we think lack we will have lack because we limit that which we accept from God. The key is to recognize what God does for you and accept it. Your cup always runneth over.
The Twenty Third Psalm
The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
He
leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul:
He leadeth me in the paths
of righteousness for His name' sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil:
For thou art with me;
Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table
before me in the presence of mine enemies;
Thou annointest my head with oil; My cup
runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,
and I will dwell
in the House of the Lord forever.
